Your Local Candidate

Barnaby Joyce

Elected in 2004, Barnaby Joyce has uniquely served as both a Queensland Senator and New South Wales Member of Parliament, winning back both seats for the Nationals.

His 2013 New England victory secured a historic 28.99% swing to the Coalition.

Barnaby led The Nationals in the Senate, as Leader of the Nationals in the House of Representatives, served as Deputy Prime Minister twice, and held six government ministries in government and four shadow portfolios in opposition.

He delivered Country of Origin Labelling, funding for the Inland Rail, the Outback Way, and dams like Rookwood Weir in Central Queensland.

In opposition, he fought Labor’s live cattle trade ban, led the fight against Labor’s proposed carbon tax, and more recently, against Labor’s Voice.

Known for bold moves, such as clashing with Hollywood actor Johnny Depp over quarantine issues, and occasional controversy, Barnaby remains a strong, decisive voice for regional Australia.
